About UsIf you’ve made your way back to our freezer section, you’ve probably noticed the ham loaf we carry from John F Martin & Sons. We urge you to take the plunge and try it for yourself! It’s a great meal option to keep in your freezer for those days when you just have no idea what to make for dinner. Pop this in your oven, cook a side of veggies, and you’re good to go. This ham loaf is made from John F Martin & Sons own recipe – it’s main ingredient, smoked ground pork, is mixed with bread crumbs, eggs, milk, and seasonings. You can also whip up a delicious glaze to pour on top for a little extra flavor! Check out this recipe from John F Martin & Son’s website:
“Preheat oven to 350⁰ F.
Remove ham loaf from plastic packaging [but keep it in the tin foil pan], and place on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake for 1-1.5 hours depending on whether the ham loaf was thawed before baking or frozen.
Make a glaze using 6 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp vinegar and 1 tbsp mustard. Twenty to thirty minutes before the ham loaf is finished baking, spoon the glaze over top the loaf before returning to oven. Cook to an internal temperature of 165⁰ F, as measured by a meat thermometer.”
A tip for you: If you know which day you’re planning on making it for dinner, place it in the refrigerator that morning to thaw. This will ensure a quicker cooking time. If you put it in the oven completely frozen, we’ve experienced a cooking time closer to 2.5 hours. We would not recommend thawing it more than a day before you plan to cook it, however.
Enjoy!!
